The BMCC is launching a pilot project in collaboration with the City of Bruges. For the next three months, a free alcohol tester will be available to everyone attending an event at the BMCC.
Why this initiative?
Driving under the influence remains a serious issue in our society. Although we all know it’s dangerous and illegal, it still happens far too often. In Belgium, at least ten traffic accidents every day are caused by alcohol—many leading to severe injuries or even fatalities.
At the BMCC, we want to help raise awareness and contribute to safer events. This initiative is part of our broader prevention efforts and encourages visitors to make conscious, responsible decisions. Alcohol misuse also undermines progress toward several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is why we are committed to promoting awareness and supporting responsible behaviour at our venue.
About FlineBox
FlineBox is an interactive electronic breathalyzer designed to make prevention more accessible. With just one breath, users receive their alcohol level along with personalised advice to help them make safe and informed choices. It offers an engaging and innovative experience that strengthens our commitment to safety.
A shared commitment in Bruges
The City of Bruges and its local police continue to invest in preventing driving under influence. As part of these efforts, fixed alcohol testers are being installed throughout the city—including the new device at the BMCC.
